<itunes:summary>As broadcasting on Christmas is now a System Showdown tradition, Kwass Jon speculate what products Apple will release at MacWorld Expo 2009. Will it be an iPhone Nano? Will be another generation Powerbook? They'll also give their take on holiday discounts for iPhone apps, and what applications you should be on the lookout for. Speaking of the holidays, Kwass will also be extending his greetings to Apple because as shown by their commercials, they have already sent their's to PC users. The hosts will also discuss other top tech tidbits such as the fast-growing rate of the Twittersphere on the Social Network Site, Twitter.com as well as the mass migration of Internet Explorer 8 users to the Firefox browser.
As broadcasting on Christmas is now a System Showdown tradition, Kwass & Jon speculate what products Apple will release at MacWorld Expo 2009. Will it be an iPhone Nano? Will be another generation Powerbook? They'll also give their take on holiday discounts for iPhone apps, and what applications you should be on the lookout for. <itunes:summary>pHi Guys and Gals,br /
I wanted to let you know about some news with me and this site, first of all I did an upgrade to wordpress. I was a little reluctant on upgrading wordpress because of the erlyer bugs in the older versions. but after hearing some very good reviews and stories about version 2.7, I did the upgrade and it went smooth as ice in December (opps it is still December), The dash board is very nice and not as cluttered as 2.6 but now I have to get used to the Drupal looking interface./p
pThe other good news is I got a letter from Comcast they are giving me the #8220;High Speed Proformance#8221; Internet package, meaning 6mb down and 1mb up starting January 20th. The odd thing is when I went to do a speed test with a href='www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/'speakeasy.com/a and I get about 5mb down and 300kb up, BUT when I do my own test like with this web server, downloads are only 700kb down and 45kb up THAT SUCKS! I dont know where these guys who do the speed tests are from but I dont get anywhere near that speed I only WISH I had that speed, anyway Comcast is discontinuing the #8220;lite package#8221; and are giving an upgrade to those who are on that plan at the same price YAY!/p
pOh and I almost forgot I figured out how to put a paypal donation button on the side bar and I know if you click the post link it will show the donation link, but I want it to show in the main page at the end of the post so I will be doing that also.br /
Well I#8217;m off to bed have a Merry Christmas and I will Talk to you in the New Year./p

<p><a >Microsoft gives XP another four months</a><br />
The final shipment date of Microsoft&#8217;s aged, XP operating system has been extended yet again. System builders can now obtain Windows XP until May 30, 2009.<br />
Windows XP was originally scheduled for OEM extinction on January 31, 2009. That deadline was given once, twice, three times the delay to mid-2010, provided the Windows XP licenses were for netbooks and low-cost PCs that can&#8217;t handle Windows Vista</p>

In the latest bizarre turn in a protracted, anything-goes legal <a href="http://www.gizmodo.com/tag/psystar">battle</a>, Psystar is basically claiming that Apple doesn&#8217;t own the copyright for OS X. Sound unlikely? It probably is.<br />
According to court papers filed on Psystar&#8217;s behalf:<br />
Apple is prohibited from bringing action against Psystar for the alleged infringement of one or more of the plaintiff&#8217;s copyrights for failure to register said copyrights with the copyright office as required. </p>

Best Buy isn’t immune to the economic crisis and had a very rough last quarter. The country’s largest electronic retailer watched same-store sales fall 5.3% over last years and net earnings take a 77% face plant. Best Buy did see a net sales increase but that was due to new store openings. Blue-collar terms? They aren’t doing so well, they#8217;ve offered 4,000 corporate employees a buyout./p
pThe voluntary plan includes 7.5 months of severance pay along with one year of health care, life insurance and outplacement services to those who leave the company now to January 5th. Employees whose age plus years with the company reach 60 will receive 12 months of severance./p
pBest Buy has not publicly announced their target number of buyouts or other cost cutting measures, but they have alluded to the idea that there is more to come. With Circuit City down, what#8217;s left? Best Buy and Wal-Mart, which means we need to keep a close eye on both to see where we#8217;ll be shopping in the future./p

Microsoft knew about xbox problems but did nothing.br /
The Seattle Tech Report #8230; a href='http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/archives/156941.asp?source=rss'reports/a that a a href='http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/library/motion_xbox.pdf'motion/a (PDF link) filed last week in a Seattle, Washington lawsuit claims that Microsoft was aware of the widespread Xbox 360 disc scratching issues #8212; the console will severely scratch discs if tilted or moved during play #8212; before the console was launched in 2005. The motion, which seeks class action status for the lawsuit, cites quotes from a (currently sealed) document in which Microsoft employees claim that they were aware of the problem before the console was launched. The document quotes Microsoft program manager Hiroo Umeno who stated that the problem was discoverd in #8220;September or October#8221; 2005.br /
Microsoft supposedly considered several solutions to the problem prior to launch and rejected them all. Three solutions were considered, including increasing the disc holder#8217;s magnetic field, slowing disc rotation speed and installing #8220;bumpers.#8221; The first was rejected because it would #8220;interfere#8221; with the disc loading mechanism, the second because it would extend game load times, and the third because it was too expensive (to the tune of $35 to $75 million). The only action taken by Microsoft, apparently, was to add a warning to the Xbox 360 manual. The company later applied a warning label onto the disc drive itself and established a program to replace scratched discs (for a fee)./p

LightDrops is an umbrella that uses the piezoelectric effect of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) to transform falling rain into electricity, which is then used to light LEDs installed on the umbrella&#8217;s underside. The heavier the rain falls (and the harder it hits the umbrella), the brighter the light shines. JNow the only thing it needs is a battery to light the umbrella when it stops raining (kinda like a flash light)</p>

<p>These electrical outlet covers let you put your mobile phone on the wall as it recharges. The antlers for all three types of deer are already the perfect shape to hold things, so we hardly had to modify the forms at all. The tough urethane rubber we used for the cover holds handsets tightly, and also protects the antlers from breakage should you bump into them. Socket-deer can also be used as a cover for light switches, and the antlers make an excellent hook for keys or accessories.</p>

Intel’s Convertible forthcoming Classmate PC features; 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 60 GB hard drive, Windows XP Home. A fine-tuned accelerometer, 8.9-inch touch LCD, a neat 180 degree swivel LCD, and a Webcam the on down fall says laptopmag.com &#8220;Because the Windows XP Home OS is not meant for tablet use, we had to install a few of our own freeware programs to take full advantage of the touchscreen.&#8221; The price of this neet netbook might be around $500-600, knowing intel it might be more</p>
